Mom to Chewbacca (15 months and growing rapidly), and author of the blog www.bplusboston.com. I'm not the perfect pinterest parent, but I'm the perfect parent for my kid. My registry is honest and I haven't suggested anything that you don't need. Leave those items to your aunt who wants to buy you a $75 newborn sweater with 800 buttons that your kid will wear once before it pukes all over it.
I'm the writer behind the Boston-based blog, Misadventures in Mommyhood. Check out the book by the same name on Amazon and my website at www.misadventuresin mommyhood.com. My Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ misadventuresinmommyhood) was just nominated by Parent's Magazine Award for Top 5 Funniest Facebook Pages, I would love to see you there or follow me @KristinQuinnMom viaTwitter, Pintrest, and Instagram. Live live and enjoy all the misadventures...
I have worked in the Division of of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for over 10 years. I am a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Society for Research on Biological Rhythms and have published numerous peer-reviewed articles on sleep and circadian rhythms and presented my research both locally and Internationally. I am also passionate about working with families. I currently live in Boston with my husband and two young boys.
I love that though my kids are grown I still get to love up babies. The list I have created is what I believe are the essentials for the first week with a new baby. This is a time to snuggle up, stay in bed, be skin to skin, nap when you can, and feed your little one. And if you need anything more friends and family are usually more than happy to help out.
I gravitate towards organic and wholesome parenting type products. I am willing to spend a little more for quality, but have a hard time spending a lot unless I'm really excited about something. I am also a huge fan of finding great baby gear at consignment or thrift stores (especially clothes!) and love a good bargain. I also have a slight addiction to amazon.com. I order way too many items late night on my phone (do not get the amazon iphone app unless you are ready to impulse buy!).
Our little one needs just about everything! We've tried to divide the list up between must-haves and nice-to-haves. Suggestions for anything we may have missed would be welcome. We're so excited to become parents and can't wait to meet our little girl!
First time mama. Hubs is a first time dada. Things we have in common: taking opportunities as early as being pregnant to educate your baby. We are huge advocates of prenatal stimulation. Things we don't have in common: I'm more chill and go with the flow when it comes to germs, safety, being experimental. Hubs is the complete opposite. Should be interesting!
I gravitate towards eco-friendly products (organic when possible) as well as hand-me-downs/consignment bargains. We like to keep it simple as so often our little one would rather play with the recycling than a snazzy new toy. There are so many awesome products out there but the greatest gift you can give your family is just being present with an open mind and a soft heart.
I'm a busy Entrepreneur and Healthy Living enthusiast. I look for organic or at least as healthy as possible (i.e I scrutinize the ingredients) parenting type of products that work well and are safe to use. I am willing to spend more for quality, convenience and safety. I try to make decisions quickly and not fall into the trap of "buying too much stuff" that my family does not need. I am excited to welcome my baby boy to the world this July 2014. I am also looking forward to getting advice on parenting products throughout my son's childhood. Thanks Mamajamas for creating this awesome site.
My daughter was born summer 2013, and while I was lucky to inherit a ton from my nieces who were ten years older, I researched like crazy all the must haves and things to avoid to be ready for her arrival! I love that the research can now be shared through my Mamajamas list and it is so much easier to be prepared for what's ahead by browsing your lists too! Since May, I've been the eyes and ears- and typing fingers- behind Mamajamas social media and having a blast! Meet me virtually by following us on facebook, twitter and pinterest!
Cute League Of Legends Monkey King Plush Toy In the game League of Lengends, the Monkey King is welcomed by many players. My philosophy on baby and kid stuff: less is more. I have two kids -- ages 3 and 5 -- and we bought very little. We invested heavily in strollers and carriers (we're runners and hikers), a few lasting toys, and lots of books. My advice to all new moms out there is to 1) take care of yourself, 2) listen to your gut, and 3) ask for help when you need it. These little people bring such incredible amounts of joy.
It's been a fabulous ride getting here to just over a year of being a mom. We moved from Washington DC to Boston when my daughter was just over 2 months, I quit my job in international trade to become a stay-at-home mom, and haven't really looked back! When first registering for baby gear I thought everything had to be brand-new and nice, but a few months into the game I realized yard sales, consignment stores, and hand-me-downs were my best friends. When I do shop new, I am a pretty cautious shopper, taking into consideration where I'm going to get the best deal. Learning about new and old gear from other rookie moms, as well as the veteran ones, has been a blessing!
I'm a working mom with two young sons. I do a mixture of green and standard products, depending on price and convenience. I'm willing to pay more for a quality product that works, but not too much more. Most importantly, I need things that work for our busy lifestyle and don't add unnecessary things to our already full home. I'm all about getting things used and then passing them along when my children outgrow them.
At the moment, I am Grampy to three boys under four and daddy to a boy and girl over 30. Was a "househusband", "housespouse/parent" for three years when the kids were 1-3 and 3-6. Note: when I check I "Own" a product, it includes items that my grandchildren possess.
